Another week of exciting basketball games hit the hardwoods at the collegiate level and once again a large number of alumni stood out with strong performances from coast to coast. Here’s a brief look at some who shined at the collegiate level this week…
TUESDAY COLLEGE ALUMNI STANDOUTS
Admiral Schofield (Team NLP) had 17 points and seven rebounds, but Tennessee was hammered 83-58 by No. 13 Kentucky.
Isaac Haas (Atlanta Celtics) powered in 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 16 Purdue to a 74-55 win over Rutgers.
Wake Forest fell 83-95 at Clemson despite 29 points and 10 rebounds from John Collins (Florida Flash).
Rodrick Caldwell (All-Ohio Red) scored 15 points, but Bowling Green dropped an 89-79 decision at Western Michigan.
Jordan Dartis (All-Ohio Red) went for 29 points and seven rebounds as Ohio picked up a 79-71 win at Eastern Michigan.
Toledo lost 71-65 at Akron. The Rockets were paced by 13 points and 13 rebounds from Steve Taylor Jr. (Mac Irvin Fire).
Garret Covington (St. Louis Eagles) poured in 22 points, but Western Illinois fell 78-72 to Denver.
Drake went down 87-70 at Evansville despite 20 points from Reed Timmer (Ray Allen Select).
Marc Loving (All-Ohio Red) went for 22 points, but Ohio State dropped a 74-66 decision at Michigan State.
Nebraska got past visiting Penn State 82-66. Glynn Watson Jr. led the way with 15 points and five assists.
WEDNESDAY COLLEGE ALUMNI STANDOUTS
Melo Trimble (D.C. Premier) exploded for 32 points to help No. 23 Maryland drop Northwestern 74-64 on the road.
Iowa State defeated Kansas State 87-79. Solomon Young (Dream Vision) led the way with 18 points and 12 boards. Wesley Iwundu (Houston Defenders) had 16 points and 13 rebounds for the Wildcats.
Luwuane Pipkins (Mac Irvin Fire) scored 16 points, but UMass was routed 96-66 by Duquesne.
Dennis Smith Jr. (Team Loaded) went for 27 points and six assists, but North Carolina State lost 97-73 to North Carolina at home.
Jayson Tatum (St. Louis Eagles) dropped 28 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 12 Duke past No. 14 Virginia 65-55 on the road.
No. 19 SMU picked up an 80-75 home victory over Tulane. Ben Moore (D-Rose All-Stars) had 15 points and 13 boards in the win.
Tyler Wideman (Meanstreets) helped Butler get a 110-86 win over St. John’s with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
East Carolina topped Temple 78-64 at home. Kentrell Barkley registered a double-double with 19 points and three rebounds for the Pirates.
Radford fell 70-59 at Winthrop despite 24 points and 11 rebounds from Ed Polite Jr. (D.C. Premier).
UNC-Asheville routed Presbyterian 89-48 at home. MaCio Teague (All-Ohio Red) led the way with 18 points and five rebounds.
A.J. Jacobson (ECI Prospects) posted 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists, but North Dakota State was defeated 77-61 at Fort Wayne.
Northern Iowa edged Bradley 64-61 at home thanks to 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists from Jeremy Morgan (Iowa Barnstormers).
Sid Tomes (Net Gain Sports) led Air Force with 18 points, but the Falcons fell 78-59 to Nevada at home.
THURSDAY COLLEGE ALUMNI STANDOUTS
Luke Kornet (Texas Select) had 12 points and 11 rebounds to lead Vanderbilt to a 72-67 win over Texas A&M.
Elon fell 66-85 at Towson despite 22 points and five rebounds from Tyler Seibring (Central Illinois Net Gain).
Ethan Happ (Quad City Elite) had 22 points, but No. 11 Wisconsin dropped a 64-58 decision at Michigan.
Nick Rutherford (SYF Players) dropped eight assists in Florida Atlantic’s 95-69 loss at Louisiana Tech. He also scored four points and grabbed six rebounds.
Rob Edwards (REACH Legends) had 19 points and six boards, but Cleveland State fell to Northern Kentucky 62-60 at home.
Montana State edged Portland State 92-90 thanks to 24 points from Tyler Hall (Quad City Elite).
Nick Emery (Utah Reign) went for 26 points as BYU got past San Diego 82-70 at home.
