Schools looking for a high-IQ floor general should be lining up for Oshkosh (Wis.) North 2018 point guard Tyrese Haliburton. A handful of programs are already in the hunt for Haliburton, who racked up six offers over the summer.

“That was really humbling,” Haliburton told NY2LASPORTS.COM. “It was good to see my hard work pay off. I got to see where I stack up against a lot of people.”

Haliburton holds offers from IUPUI, Toledo, Green Bay, Ohio, Milwaukee, and Drake.
The 6-foot-3, 150-pound junior has no official leaders, but one school is sticking out at this point in his recruitment.

“They’re kind of all even right now,” he said. “One that does stick out is Milwaukee because I have a really good relationship with coach (LaVall) Jordan.  I love the staff. I went on my first visit there. I’m even with most schools, but they kind of stick out the most.”

Haliburton is fielding interest from Iowa State, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, UC-Davis, William & Mary, Bradley, Wofford, and others.  Illinois State, who Haliburton visited last week has been showing strong interest.  “They told me they really liked me,” Haliburton said. “There were like 12 other juniors there and I performed really well. I met all the staff and they’ll see me more this fall and during the season.  I saw the arena for the first time, which was really cool. I really like the campus. It was a good experience.”

Haliburton is looking to set up visits to Drake, Milwaukee, Northern Iowa, Green Bay, and Iowa State before the season.  Not looking to make an early decision, Haliburton plans to play out his entire recruitment and remain uncommitted through next July.  “I will for sure take all my officials and wait through the summer,” he said. “I want to keep learning more about these schools and take visits, making sure the decision is perfect for me.”

Haliburton played with Wisconsin United during the grassroots travel season.
